The U. S. Food and Drug Administration is warning the general public and the public's employers that it may not be safe to sell certain Viagra, Cialis and Levitra products, at any pharmacy, supermarket, or convenience store.
The Food and Drug Administration has issued a voluntary warning to the general public and the public's employers that it may not be safe to sell certain Viagra, Cialis and Levitra products at any pharmacy, supermarket, or convenience store.
The FDA's warning to consumers is based on a study published in the May 20 edition of theJournal of the American Medical Association, which was undertaken to determine if the medications used in Viagra, Cialis and Levitra would cause a decrease in blood pressure.
The study, titled "A Risk to Lower Blood Pressure in People with Erectile Dysfunction," looked at a group of people ages 18 to 64 with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction who took Viagra, Cialis and Levitra for three months, the FDA says.
The study found that patients taking Viagra and Cialis for three months experienced a decrease in blood pressure by more than 50 percent in the group who took the medication for the study period. The FDA says the study is notifying the public.
Dr. John A. Lue, of the Office of Dietary Products, said it is important for consumers to be aware of the risks and that they should only use a prescription drug product with a warning label, which has been updated to include the product.
"As far as the health of consumers, the FDA's warning is based on the fact that it does not cover drugs that are commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra," Lue said. "The FDA has issued a voluntary warning label to all consumers with a prescription for these products that includes a warning about the risk of increased risk of cardiovascular events including heart attack and stroke, especially when taken with nitrates such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate or isosorbide dinitrate."
In July, the FDA said it has issued a voluntary warning to consumers with heart failure, heart attack and stroke, and also to those who have a history of coronary artery disease.
The FDA said it has not found any studies to support or support the increased risk of cardiovascular events.
The FDA said the study "does not provide a definitive cause-and-effect relationship between Viagra and a reduced cardiovascular risk."
There were no reports of heart attack or stroke in more than 1,500 people taking the drug for more than a year. However, the FDA has warned that a patient's heart risk is higher if they take Viagra if they experience chest pain, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting while taking the drug.
The FDA said it has not found any studies to support or support the increased risk of cardiovascular events in people taking Viagra, Cialis and Levitra for more than a year.
The FDA said it has not found any studies to support or to be supported the increased risk of cardiovascular events in people taking Viagra, Cialis and Levitra for more than a year.
It is also not clear whether Viagra and Cialis are taken in the same dose as Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. But Viagra and Cialis are not usually taken in the same amount.
The FDA said it is not aware of any studies that have evaluated the effects of Viagra on people with heart failure or heart disease.
